In plain words

Why counting stock usually feels so hard

A stocktake is simply counting what you really have and comparing it with what your records say you should have. The difference tells you what has gone missing, what was never recorded, and what your stock is worth.

It is hard because the usual way is slow: products are piled up and carried to a table, the shop slows down, people count the same thing twice, and the answer arrives days later, when nobody can still say what happened.

TotalTally changes the one thing that makes it slow. Nothing is piled and nothing is moved. Each product is counted exactly where it already sits.

The usual way

  • Products piled up and carried to a table
  • Cashiers pulled off the till
  • Counts copied onto paper, then typed in
  • Results days or weeks later

With TotalTally

  • Every product counted where it sits: no piling, no moving
  • The shop keeps trading
  • Counts go straight into the system
  • A variance report the same day
The big difference

Counted where they are.
No piling. No moving.

Walk to the shelf, scan the product, move on. The shelf stays as it is, the product stays where it is, and the shop carries on trading around you.

  • ✓Shelves stay as they are. No emptying shelves and no stock stacked on tables.
  • ✓The shop keeps trading. Cashiers stay on the till and customers are not turned away.
  • ✓Far less time. A stocktake takes a fraction of the time, because counting each product in place is up to 75% faster than carrying stock to a table.
How it works

Four steps, from setup to signed report

You do not need a technician. Most businesses are ready to count the same day.

  1. Add your products

Upload your product list from Excel using our ready-made template, or add products one by one. Add your current stock on hand the same way.

  2. Set up a count

Create a count, choose what to count, and give it to your counters. Run it at one shop or across several sites.

  3. Count with phones

Counters scan each product where it sits: no piling, no moving. It keeps working with no signal, and sends the counts when the connection is back.

  4. Check and finish

See every difference, recount the lines that look wrong, then close the count. Print the report or download it to Excel or CSV.

What you get

Answers you can use, not just numbers

When the count closes you are not left to work it out. The system does it for you.

±

A variance report

Expected against counted for every product: what is short, what is over, and by how much.

$

Your stock value

What your stock is worth, and what the gap between expected and counted is worth in money.

↻

A recount list

The lines that look wrong are flagged, so you recount those and not everything.

⚠

Dead stock and breakages

See products that are not moving, and record breakages as they happen so they are not mistaken for theft.

⇩

Reports you can share

Print, or download to Excel or CSV, and hand them to your finance team or your auditor.

Questions

Before you start

Do I need to be good with computers?

No. If you can use a phone and fill in an Excel sheet, you can use it. We give you a template for your products, and setup help is free when you register.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Counters can keep scanning with no signal. The counts are sent as soon as the phone is back online.

Do I have to move or pile my products?

No. That is the point. Counters scan each product right where it is on the shelf, so nothing is piled up and nothing is carried to a table.

How long does a count take?

It depends on how many products and sites you have. Counting each product where it sits is up to 75% faster than carrying stock to a table.

Do I need your till software as well?

No. Stocktaking works on its own. You choose the products you need when you register.

How much does it cost?

One shop is free. After that you pay by how many shops you run, and the current plans are on our website. A counting team is quoted per job once we know your sites and the size of your stock list.

I already have my keys. Where do I start?

Use the activation page once to join with your Shop ID and activation key, then sign in as normal.

Count it once. Count it right.
